At their 15 November 2024 hui the Rangitāiki River Forum decided to formally commence the 10-Year Review of Te Ara Whānui o Rangitāiki the Rangitāiki River Document. Interested persons are invited to have their say on the River Document review.

Questions to consider are whether there are opportunities, challenges or issues not currently addressed by the River Document.   What changes are needed to the River Document?  How could the Forum address these?

The River Document was first adopted on 16 December 2014.  Both the Ngāti Manawa Claims Settlement Act 2012¹ and Ngāti Whare Claims Settlement Act 2012² require the Forum commence a review of the River Document no later than 10-years after it was first adopted.

A Working Party comprising members of the Rangitāiki River Forum was established at the Forum’s 14 March 2025 meeting to lead the 10-Year Review project.   A Project Team has been established to implement the Working Party’s directions.
